Village Green Trees & Seat

HORSE CHESTNUT TREES ON THE GREEN
Neil Humphris, the Leconfield Estates' Head Forester, kindly came to the village green
to discuss and answer questions about the trees around the Village Green, including the diseased horse chestnuts, and the siting of a new circular bench. The outcome of this successful meeting was that a lovely new replacement oak circular seat has been placed around the tree.

The County Library service is considering a major new project to create a countywide website in which societies, researchers and anyone with an interest in their local area in the past would be directly involved.

They do need to find out whether there is sufficient interest in the project before making an application for external funding. Please if you think you may be interested read the following.

Allotments

Lurgashall still has Allotments to rent
A recent upsurge on people taking up allotments (recent food awareness issues) means that we now only have a few left to rent (June08). Just £10/yr. The allotment site has recently been fenced with rabbit proof fencing, the fence to the west is due to be renewed in the comming weeks and the vacant land gets 2 or 3 regular mowings throughout the season to keep down the spread of weeds. Please contact the Parish Clerk on 01428-707336 for more details.
